Five Acres High School
Lakers School – a new future in Greenshaw Learning Trust as ‘Five Acres High School’.
Lakers School in Coleford, Forest of Dean, is on a journey of improvement to ensure it provides the best learning environment for all its students.
As part of this journey, the school will start the new academic year in September 2017 as an academy in the Greenshaw Learning Trust, with a new name and new uniform.
The school will be called Five Acres High School.
This name was chosen to reflect the school’s place in its local community and its local heritage; the 1914 predecessor school was named Five Acres School, and the land the school is built on was once part of Five Acres Farm.
‘Five Acres High School’ was the preferred choice in the consultation with students, parents and staff.
The school will have a new badge to go with the new name, keeping the current school colours of red and black.
The new badge was devised in consultation with staff and students; it brings together a bold modern oakleaf design to represent the forest on a traditional heraldic badge shape.
The new uniform, which has been developed in consultation with the student council, consists of a black blazer with red piping, red and black tie, white shirt/blouse, and either plain black tailored trousers or black white and red chequered school skirt.
