Yate Academy Celebrates Ofsted Outcome in Latest Report

Following a full graded inspection in May 2026, inspectors judged the school to be operating at a Strong Standard across Achievement, Curriculum and Teaching, Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, and Personal Development and Wellbeing. Attendance and Behaviour, alongside Post-16 Provision, were judged to meet the Expected Standard. Safeguarding was also found to be fully effective.
The report reflects the significant progress made under the leadership of Headteacher Edward Rakshi, supported by the Greenshaw Learning Trust, and highlights a school where pupils feel safe, valued and supported to succeed.
Inspectors made the following key points in their report:
Inclusion is at the heart of the school. Inspectors recognised leaders' determination to ensure every pupil can succeed regardless of the challenges they may face. Particular praise was given to the support provided for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, children in care and those who require additional social and emotional support.
The school's curriculum and teaching were praised for being highly ambitious and carefully planned. Inspectors noted that teachers explain new concepts clearly, use their subject expertise effectively and consistently check pupils' understanding. High-quality professional development ensures staff continue to refine their practice, resulting in strong learning experiences for pupils.
Achievement was recognised as a significant strength. Inspectors found that pupils, including those facing barriers to learning, achieve very well. Outcomes at the end of Year 11 are strong, with disadvantaged pupils achieving particularly highly. The report highlights that pupils develop deep and secure knowledge across the curriculum and are well prepared for their next steps in education and employment.
The school's personal development programme was also commended. Inspectors found that pupils benefit from a carefully designed curriculum that develops confidence, resilience and respect for others. A wide range of enrichment opportunities helps broaden pupils' horizons and prepare them well for life beyond school.
Leadership and governance were recognised as strong. Inspectors praised leaders' rigorous evaluation of the school's work, their commitment to improvement and the high-quality professional development available to staff.
The report also highlights the positive culture across the school. Pupils enjoy attending Yate Academy, feel safe and valued, and demonstrate high standards of conduct, courtesy and respect. Inspectors noted that behaviour in lessons and around the school is very positive.
Edward Rakshi, Headteacher of Yate Academy, said: "This report reflects the dedication and ambition of our staff, pupils and wider school community. At Yate Academy, we are passionate about ensuring every young person can thrive both personally and academically and remain focused on providing the very best opportunities."
Will Smith OBE, CEO of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: "This report is a testament to the commitment and expertise of everyone at Yate Academy.
