Greenshaw Learning Trust Appoints New Executive Headteacher for Plymouth Schools

Greenshaw Learning Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Wendon as Executive Headteacher for Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College, Plymouth, with effect from 1 January 2027.
Dan joins the Trust from Liskeard School and Community College in Cornwall, where he has served as Headteacher since September 2022. During his time there, he led significant improvements in a particularly challenging context, securing strong progress for both the school and its wider community. Prior to this role, Dan held a number of senior leadership positions across the South West, developing extensive expertise in school improvement and educational leadership.
Dan brings a strong track record of leading improvement and a deep commitment to securing excellent outcomes for young people. His experience, alongside his understanding of the South West and its communities, positions him well to lead both schools into the next stage of their development.
Will Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “Dan’s appointment marks an exciting next step for both Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College. He has a strong understanding of how to build momentum, support staff and students to succeed, and strengthen the role schools play within their communities. I know he will make a significant contribution to both schools and to our wider work across the South West.”
As previously communicated, Anita Frier will be taking up a new role as Locality and Partnership Lead within GLT. We thank Anita for her significant contribution to both schools, and for the leadership and commitment she has shown throughout her time in post. This new role will also enable Anita to support a comprehensive handover to Dan.
