Wood Field Primary School Celebrates Outstanding Ofsted Rating Across the Board

We are delighted to inform you that Wood Field Primary School in Carshalton has been judged ‘Outstanding’ across all areas following an Ofsted inspection in June 2025. We are proud of the powerful endorsement of the school’s commitment to excellence, inclusion, and opportunity for every pupil.
As part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, Wood Field Primary School has gone from strength to strength under the leadership of Headteacher Laura Rodger. Inspectors described the school as “a vibrant, happy and inclusive place” where pupils “achieve extremely well across the subjects they study.” The school’s motto, ‘We are limitless’, is clearly lived out across the community and curriculum.
The report highlights a broad and ambitious curriculum, delivered with clarity and care. Classrooms are filled with enthusiasm for learning, and children are supported to develop deep knowledge and understanding in every subject. Teachers were praised for their strong subject knowledge and ability to create lessons that are engaging, inclusive, and challenging.
The school’s provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including its specialist resource base Oak Field, was recognised as a significant strength. Pupils receive carefully tailored support and follow well-sequenced learning pathways that help them thrive both academically and personally.
Inspectors also praised the school’s exceptional personal development programme, which encourages pupils to be “inquisitive, respectful and worldly.” From chess and crochet clubs to visits to local places of worship and national museums, pupils are offered rich and meaningful experiences that help them grow into confident, compassionate young people.
In the early years, children settle quickly into routines and develop the strong foundations needed for future success, particularly in language, mathematics, and early reading. Reading is a clear priority across the school, with a highly effective phonics programme and a genuine love of books nurtured from Reception upwards.
Laura Rodger, Headteacher, says: “We are incredibly proud of this outcome, which recognises the relentless hard work and commitment of our staff, pupils and families. Every day, we work to ensure that every child is seen, supported, and stretched, because we truly believe they are limitless.”
Liz Easaw, Director of Primary Education, commented: “Wood Field Primary School is an exceptional place where children learn with joy and purpose. Laura and her team have built a culture of high ambition, kindness and care. This Ofsted judgement reflects the very best of what primary education can offer.”
