Ofsted Praises Grange Primary Academy’s Strong Progress and Ambitious Curriculum

We are delighted to announce that Grange Primary Academy in Tuffley, Gloucester, has been judged ‘Good’ across all areas following a full Ofsted inspection in June 2025. This marks a significant achievement for the school, which was previously judged ‘Requires Improvement’, and reflects the impressive progress made in recent years.
As part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, Grange Primary Academy has undergone a rapid and sustained transformation under the leadership of Headteacher Beth Williams. Inspectors recognised the school as “a joyful place to learn, where pupils grow in confidence” and praised the “high expectations” now central to school life.
The report celebrates the positive culture across the school, where pupils are “known as individuals” and feel safe, supported, and valued. Classrooms are described as calm and purposeful, with pupils engaged in learning and living up to the school’s values of being ready, respectful and safe.
Inspectors noted that the school’s “renewed curriculum helps current pupils to know and remember more”, with strong performance seen across subjects. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), including those in the school’s Sycamore Class, receive high-quality, individualised support, enabling them to thrive.
Early years provision was highlighted as a particular strength, with children benefiting from a well-considered start to school and developing key language, motor and social skills from the beginning. The school’s careful attention to vocabulary and speech development is making a real difference, especially for pupils needing bespoke support.
The personal development of pupils was also praised, with enrichment opportunities from orienteering and zoo visits, to WWII workshops woven throughout the curriculum to build resilience, character, and connection to the wider world. Pupils also learn how to support their mental health and understand the importance of equality and respect.
Beth Williams, Headteacher, said: “This report is a proud moment for our school community. It recognises the determination and care shown by staff, pupils, and families to create a school where everyone is supported to be the best they can be. I am incredibly proud of the journey we have been on and the children we serve.”
Liz Easaw, Director of Primary Education, said: “Grange Primary Academy has undergone a remarkable journey of improvement, and this recognition from Ofsted is richly deserved. Beth and her team have created a school where children are supported, challenged, and inspired every day. Congratulations!”
