Plympton Academy proposes to join the Greenshaw Learning Trust

The Governing Body of Plympton Academy is proposing that the school should join the Trust.
Over the past eighteen months, Plympton Academy has worked closely with the Greenshaw Learning Trust. The work undertaken has been focused on improving the quality of teaching and learning and behaviour across the academy. Staff have worked collaboratively with other schools within the trust, and with schools across Plymouth, to share good practice and improve outcomes. This partnership has supported the improvements seen within the quality of education at the academy. As such, the Governing Body of Plympton Academy is proposing that the school should join the Greenshaw Learning Trust, to make the collaboration formal.
The Governing Body and the school’s leadership have been carefully considering the school’s future and exploring different partnerships that will support continued school improvement and continue to grow the relationship between the two trusts. It has been agreed by the Governing Body that the academy should take the next steps to become part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust and hold a formal consultation with all stakeholders.
Sue Dann, Chair of Plympton Academy Governing Body, said: “The Greenshaw Learning Trust shares our values and commitment to provide the best education for the local community. Working alongside Greenshaw, who have proven success in improving schools, will continue to build on the strengths of the academy for the benefit of all our students.”
Roger Mills, Chair of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “We are delighted that Plympton Academy wants to join our Trust. As part of the Greenshaw family, close collaboration with like-minded schools and high quality support services will help Plympton on its improvement and development journey.”
Plympton Academy, along with a number of other schools in Plymouth, has informally worked with the Greenshaw Learning Trust for the last two years and this collaboration has helped deliver school improvements.
As an academy in the Greenshaw Learning Trust, Plympton Academy will maintain its ethos and its place at the heart of its local community, whilst benefiting from quality support services and efficiencies that will ensure the academy continues to improve and provide the best start in life to all its students.
Subject to the necessary agreements being reached between Plympton Academy, the Greenshaw Learning Trust and the Department for Education, it is expected that Plympton Academy will join the Greenshaw Learning Trust on 1 January 2021.
