Bekki Smith

Bekki Smith joined us in 2017 with the creation of Five Acres High School and has progressed to become Lead for History and Character Education.

Having begun my teaching career in 1997, I have spent much of my professional journey serving the local community. I joined Lakers School in 2002, remaining with the school as it became Five Acres High School following its transition into Greenshaw Learning Trust in 2017.

Following the creation of Five Acres High School, I worked with a small team to establish a Character Education programme designed to help students develop important life skills, strengthen their values and raise their aspirations. This work quickly became a key part of the school’s ethos and, in 2018, we were proud to achieve the Character Education Quality Award in recognition of the impact of the programme.

Since then, I have continued to lead and develop Character Education at Five Acres High School, working collaboratively across Greenshaw Learning Trust and with schools nationally to champion the importance of character development alongside academic success. Alongside my role leading History, I have valued the opportunity to support students in becoming confident, resilient and aspirational young people who are prepared to contribute positively to their communities.

I find working within Greenshaw Learning Trust incredibly rewarding; the culture of collaboration and shared purpose has enabled me to continue growing professionally while contributing to meaningful opportunities for students. Being part of the school’s journey from Lakers School to Five Acres High School and seeing the positive impact on young people and the wider community has been a privilege.
