Luis De Abreu

Luis joined us in 2013 as a Food Development Manager and has since developed into our Head of Catering.
My journey with Greenshaw Learning Trust started in 2013 when I was appointed Food Development Manager at Greenshaw High School. Over time, I was given the opportunity to progress into the role of Head of Catering, and I now lead and support catering operations across multiple sites within the Trust. In my role, I work closely with school leaders and catering teams to deliver a healthy, high-quality service that is safe, compliant and financially sustainable. A key part of my work is developing people—supporting managers and teams with training, coaching and clear standards—so the service is consistent and continues to improve.
What I enjoy most is that we never lose sight of why we do this: our pupils. Listening to pupil voice is essential because it helps us shape menus and services that students genuinely want to eat, while still meeting our healthy-eating standards. When we listen well and act on feedback, we improve meal uptake, reduce waste, and create a better experience for pupils and staff. I enjoy working at GLT because there is a strong culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, and I’ve always felt supported to bring ideas forward that improve the service for our school communities.
