St Peter’s Primary School Recognised for Sustained Excellence and Pupils’ Success in Latest Ofsted Inspection

St Peter’s Primary School in Croydon, part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, is celebrating the outcome of its latest Ofsted inspection, which confirmed that the school has taken effective action to maintain the standards previously identified.

The two-day inspection, carried out on 1st and 2nd April 2025, recognised the school’s continued commitment to excellence, inclusion, and the wellbeing of every pupil.

Led by Co-Headteachers Caroline Barriball and Samantha Sandle, St Peter’s Primary School was commended for its strong leadership, ambitious curriculum, and the nurturing environment it provides. The inspector highlighted the school as a place where pupils thrive both academically and personally.

Pupils described their school as welcoming and inclusive, and the Ofsted inspector noted how proud and happy children are to be part of the St Peter’s community. Warm relationships between staff and pupils help to ensure that children feel safe, respected, and supported in every aspect of their development. The school’s inclusive approach also ensures that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, are well supported and fully engaged in learning.

From the early years through to Year 6, the school offers a carefully considered curriculum that supports high achievement. Early reading and mathematics are particularly strong, delivered by knowledgeable and skilled staff who ensure that pupils develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed. Pupils were observed to be curious, keen, and focused learners who enjoy their lessons and work hard to do their best.

The inspector also praised the wide range of leadership opportunities available to pupils, including ambassador roles, house captains, and buddying schemes, and St Peter’s is recognised for preparing its pupils exceptionally well for life beyond primary school.

Caroline Barriball and Samantha Sandle, Co-Headteachers, said: “We are thrilled that Ofsted has recognised what makes St Peter’s so special — our community spirit, our ambition for every pupil, and the values that guide everything we do. This outcome reflects the dedication of our staff, the positivity of our pupils, and the support we receive from families and the wider Trust.”

Liz Easaw, Director of Primary Education at the Greenshaw Learning Trust, commented: “St Peter’s continues to provide an inspiring and inclusive education. The leadership team and staff have created a learning environment where pupils are encouraged to grow in confidence and achieve great things. We are very proud of what they have achieved.”
