New Director of Secondary Education appointed

Isabel Ambrose has been appointed as the new GLT Director of Secondary Education from September.

Ben Parnell, the Director of Secondary Education for the Greenshaw Learning Trust (GLT), will take up a new post as the Chief Executive Officer at Launceston College Multi Academy Trust in Cornwall, starting in September 2022. Ben has recently relocated to Cornwall to be closer to his family and friends and this is an excellent opportunity for Ben and the education community in Devon and Cornwall.

Following a recent recruitment process, Isabel Ambrose has been appointed as the GLT Director of Secondary Education and will start her new role on 1 September 2022. Izzy has worked at Greenshaw Learning Trust for five years, as the headteacher of Yate Academy and recently as Assistant Director, where she worked closely alongside Ben.

Will Smith, Chief Executive Officer of the Greenshaw Learning Trust, said: “I would like to thank Ben for his support, guidance and wisdom, he has been instrumental in helping the Greenshaw Learning Trust develop a highly effective secondary school strategy ensuring improvement in all our secondary schools. I have worked closely with Ben for a number of years and I am personally grateful for his professionalism, expertise and friendship. We will continue to work closely together as he starts on his journey as a CEO.”

“We are delighted to welcome Izzy Ambrose to take up the responsibility of continuing and further developing our schools. Izzy was instrumental in the transformation of Yate Academy, leading the school to the top 1% of UK secondary schools and achieving exceptional results for disadvantaged and SEND students. Izzy’s vision for the future of our work at GLT is utterly compelling and inspiring and I am excited to be working with her more closely.”

Izzy Ambrose said: “My passion is to provide the very best chance of success for all children, especially those who have barriers and disadvantages, and who need adults to advocate and support them. I am proud of what the Trust has achieved and excited about playing my part in shaping its future.”
